From January to June, Belize has seen a 24.3% increase in overnight European tourism, compared to 2017 that is a 20.6% increase!

In January 2018 there was a 35.2% increase, which shows that the most substantial growth for the country is during peak season. Conversely, visitor numbers in March surpassed January figures, demonstrating Belize is less affected by seasonality.

Visitor arrival numbers are becoming more consistent throughout the entire year.

The increase in visitor numbers to Belize reflects the results of this year’s ABTA Travel Trends Report, which suggests that visitors are looking to travel to alternative destinations. The report indicates that in 2018, over a quarter of holidaymakers (27%) plan to visit a country they’ve never been to before; people want to see new destinations, get away from the crowds and immerse themselves in new cultures.
Even Aeromexico, Mexico’s global airline, has announced the start of a seasonal twice a week nonstop flight to Belize running from November 17 to April 28, making it the first major Mexican commercial airline to offer such service to the country of Belize! Aeromexico’s flight 67 will be on Saturdays and Sundays.
These added flights will help facilitate the fast-growing market for Belize while expanding Mexico’s global connectivity. The tourism market growth shows consistent growth and positions the Belizean market to be year-round destination and choice for expats.
Belize is a country with incredible attributes, and its natural beauty has people wanting to come and stay. I meet more Americans every month calling Ambergris Caye home.
